February has already been a busy month in first grade...
We welcomed a new classmate, Riah, to Rowe School!
We started learning fact families in Math.
We have been writing persuasive letters.
We prepared for Valentine's Day.
We celebrated the 100th day of school.
We got picked to host the next community meeting with Mrs. Lincoln's class in March!
Enjoy the photos!

Goodbye, January!
We ended January by wrapping up our how-to writing unit and our pebbles, sand, and silt science unit!
We have been publishing our how to stories all week. On Friday, we celebrated by sharing them with our kindergarten writing buddies and again with Mrs. Lincoln's first grade class. They are now hanging in the hallway for your reading pleasure!
We ended our science unit by painting our clay beads and turning them into necklaces! Students then had a chance to explore a variety of rocks and crystals, sand paper, and other earth materials in the classroom.
At the end of the week we started our new Balance and Motion science unit. The term resilience was introduced, and students have been practicing resilience and their coping skills when a balance experiment doesn't go as planned. We keep trying and have a positive attitude!

Here's a little video of first grade authors hard at work, trying to make their publishing deadline!
